Mr Danny Woo, Commissioner of ICAC, Hong Kong, China, is appointed as the new President of IAACA, with effect from 1 September 2023.
Mr Woo's appointment as IAACA President was unanimously agreed by the Executive Committee during its 5th meeting on 23 August 2023. He expressed his gratitude, "It is a great honour and privilege to be entrusted by the IAACA Executive Committee with this extremely important position. I am also grateful for the support of the Central People's Government of China and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the ICAC to continue its leading role in the international fight against corruption. I am truly excited to work with each and every member of the Association to advance our mission of building a corruption-free world."
Under Mr Woo's leadership, IAACA will focus on three strategic priorities: First, IAACA will enhance the experience sharing among anti-corruption authorities. Conferences and training programmes will be organized in collaboration with members and related organizations so as to provide platforms for graft-fighters to share their experience and discuss challenges in the fight against corruption. Second, closer partnerships between IAACA and international and regional organizations will be forged through innovative projects which aim to address global concerns and emerging trends. Last but not least, IAACA will strengthen its online initiatives to connect graft-fighters worldwide. Mr Woo stated that, with the members' continuous support, he has every confidence in leading IAACA to make greater contribution to the international fight against corruption.
Mr Woo also expressed his sincere gratitude to his predecessor, Mr Simon Peh, for his commitment to the Association and the achievements he made.
