Mr Kenneth WONG Kwok-hung was appointed by IAACA Executive Committee as the Association’s new Secretary-General with effect from 1 May 2023, following the retirement of his predecessor Ms Sally Kwan.
Mr Wong is the Director of International Cooperation and Corporate Services of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong, China. He has spent the better part of his anti-graft career in the past 25 years in systemic prevention, community education and anti-corruption research. Before taking charge of the ICAC’s international cooperation and corporate services, he served as Assistant Director of Community Relations, overseeing the planning and implementation of preventive education and public engagement programmes of the Commission.
Mr Wong, with his appointment as IAACA Secretary-General unanimously agreed by the Executive Committee at its 4th Executive Committee Meeting on 26 April 2023, is eager to take the new challenges: “It is my great honour to take up the baton to lead the Secretariat of IAACA. My colleagues and I will continue to support IAACA to strengthen international anti-corruption collaboration, enhance communication among members, and make IAACA more visible in the international community.”

My thanks also go to my predecessor, Ms Sally Kwan, for having built an efficient and professional secretariat team to support the daily affairs of the Association.” Mr Wong added.
IAACA Secretariat joining the briefing on the margins of 14th session of the Implementation Review Group of the UNCAC
IAACA Secretary-General Mr Kenneth Wong attended the briefing for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) convened on the margins of the 14th session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) on 13 June 2023. At the session, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) briefed the NGOs on the review process and provided an update on the technical assistance provided by UNODC in support of the implementation of the Convention. The delegates of the United States shared with the participants the latest updates about the 10th Session of the Conference of the States Parties to UNCAC, which would take place in Atlanta, United States from 11 to 15 December 2023.
Third African Regional Coordination Meeting
Adv. Andy Mothibi, IAACA Vice-President and African Regional Coordinator, convened the 3rd African Regional Coordination Meeting on 30 March 2023. Representatives of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission of Kenya, Independent Commission Against Corruption of Mauritius, National Authority for Probity, Prevention and Fight Against Corruption of Morocco, Special Investigating Unit (SIU) of South Africa and IAACA Secretariat joined the meeting as observer. Adv. Mothibi and his colleagues in the SIU updated members on the new membership and the summary of training needs of African ACAs. The meeting also reviewed the progress of regional sub-coordinators in promoting IAACA in various anti-corruption networks in Africa, such as Common Wealth Africa and Association of African Anti-Corruption Authorities. To advance the regional coordination work, Adv. Mothibi encouraged members to strengthen efforts in recruiting ACAs to join IAACA and actively promote IAACA in anti-corruption conferences and meetings in Africa.
Bilateral meeting with Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil
IAACA has worked actively in creating a synergy between anti-corruption authorities and supreme audit institutions in the fight against and prevention of corruption. The IAACA Secretariat had an online meeting with the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) of Brazil to explore collaboration between the two organizations. TCU is responsible for auditing the accounts of administrators and other persons responsible for public funds in Brazil. Its President has been appointed as the President of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) for the term 2023-25. In this connection, Ms Paula Hebling Dutra, Head of the International Relations Department of TCU, offered assistance in establishing contact with the Working Group on the Fight Against Corruption of INTOSAI. In addition, both sides agreed to contribute speakers to capacity building programmes for supreme audit institutions and anti-corruption authorities worldwide.
