Mr. GUEYE, who has extensive experience as senior judicial official, was appointed President of OFNAC on 1 December 2022. He has taken over OFNAC’s seat in the Executive Committee of IAACA, and serves as a Member of the African Regional Group under the Regional Coordination Mechanism.

Under the leadership of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile (CGR), the Anti-corruption Alliance UNCAC Chile, which is a collective action initiative created in 2012 by the CGR and the United Nations Development Programme, celebrated its 10th anniversary on 13 December 2022 to mark International Anti-Corruption Day.

The event gathered authorities and representatives from its 33 institution members in the public sector, private sector, academia, and the international community to launch the report entitled "Alianza Anticorrupción UNCAC Chile: 10 años trabajando por la integridad (Anti-corruption Alliance UNCAC Chile: 10 years promoting integrity)". First policy under formulation by Supreme Audit Institutions of Latin American and the Caribbean to prevent and fight corruption

CGR, as the Presidency of the Technical Commission for the fight against transnational corruption, is leading the formulation of the first policy on prevention and the fight against corruption for the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS).

A webinar was held in Santiago on 1 March 2023 to discuss the good practices of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in fighting corruption. 22 SAIs of OLACEFS will meet in April 2023 in Santiago to finalise the policy and pave the way forward for implementation and follow up.

Corruption and deforestation seminar in Chile in May 2023

CGR, as Executive Secretariat of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the Mercosur and Associated Countries (EFSUR), will hold a seminar on corruption and deforestation on 2 May 2023 in Santiago in which the member SAIs will deliberate on the issues and outline action plans with the assistance of experts for tackling these challenges.

More than 300 participants, including representatives from the European Commission, local governments, non-governmental organisations, independent authorities as well as executives from public and private sector in Greece attended the Second Integrity Forum of the National Transparency Authority (NTA), Greece in Athens Concert Hall on 9 December 2022, International Anti-Corruption Day. The key message is “Integrity, Accountability and Transparency in Senior Executives of Government and Local Government: Duty not Choice”.

The forum highlighted the institutional role of the NTA and its initiatives to raise the awareness of the importance of transparency, integrity and accountability in the public and private sectors, as well as among the general public.


Feedback on the work of the IAACA

Following the 12th General Meeting of IAACA held on 8 December 2022, IAACA Secretariat received feedback from Mr. Shakeel Anjum Nagra, Director of Training and Research Division of the National Accountability Bureau of Pakistan. He expressed his support for IAACA's major initiatives in 2023 and highlighted the importance of joint collaboration between IAACA members and anti-corruption authorities in the global fight against corruption.

IAACA's participation in the 10th session of Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the launch of the Policy Guide in meaningful engagement of youth in anticorruption efforts for policy makers and various capacity building programmes in the areas of investigation are of paramount importance to eradicate corruption in member countries and beyond. The launch of the new IAACA website with new features also served as a good example of using technology in facilitating information sharing and experience exchange.

NCPA's compendium of national anti-corruption strategies and plans

Network of Corruption Prevention Authorities (NCPA) published a compendium of national anti-corruption strategies and plans of members and partners of NCPA National anti-corruption strategies and plans: the importance of common features and shared challenges in the richness of diversity of national responses. Compendium of emerging policies and practices in the Network of Corruption Prevention Authoritiesin February 2023. The objective of the compendium is to collect contributions from NCPA members and partners, including a brief description to explain the features of the respective national contexts, in-depth analysis and considerations on specific challenges. It presents different experiences in the design and implementation of national anticorruption strategies or frameworks, seeks to capitalise lessons learnt, and disseminates best practices to policy makers and anti-corruption practitioners.

IAACA supported the initiative by inviting members to complete NCPA's survey for the project to broaden the scope of the analysis.
